Hughes General Contractors is proud to announce that Deseret Peak High School has earned top honors across the construction industry in 2025. The project received awards from AGC, UC&D Magazine, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA), and Engineering News-Record (ENR). Most notably, after winning its division for ENR's Best Projects, the school was named Project of the Year, a distinction that places it among the most influential construction projects nationwide. A Modern Approach to Education Located in Tooele County, Deseret Peak High School is a state-of-the-art, 336,000-square-foot facility designed to meet the growing needs of the community. The two-level structure combines high-performance, cost-efficient design with architectural ambition, creating a space that is both functional and inspiring for students and educators.
Innovative Tilt-Up Construction
The project showcases advanced tilt-up concrete construction techniques, including towering 80-foot tilt-up panels that required precision and expertise. Inside, the design team made a bold choice to expose structural concrete in key areas such as the 1,200-seat auditorium, student commons, and athletic facilities. These unpainted, unpatched surfaces demanded exceptional craftsmanship and coordination from the start.
Collaboration and Craftsmanship
Delivering a project of this scale required seamless collaboration between architects, engineers, and contractors. Every detail from structural planning to interior finishes was executed to align with the school's architectural vision. The result is a facility that sets a new benchmark for educational construction projects.
Setting Industry Standards
Recognition from leading organizations like AGC, UC&D Magazine, TCA, and ENR underscores the project's success and Hughes Construction's commitment to excellence. These awards highlight innovation in tilt-up concrete construction, sustainable design, and collaborative project delivery.
