Dalton Learning Lodge: A Cornerstone for Education and Community

Dalton Learning Lodge: A Cornerstone for Education and Community Hughes is proud to have played a key role in the creation of the Dalton Learning Lodge at the Ophir Canyon Education Center, a project built entirely through donated funds. Designed by MHTN Architects for the Tooele County School District Education Foundation, the lodge stands as the centerpiece of the campus, offering versatile classroom and gathering spaces for school districts, community groups, and corporate teams. Surrounding the lodge are outdoor education spaces and a ropes course, creating opportunities for hands-on activities that inspire curiosity and collaboration. Throughout the year, the center will host a wide range of classes and workshops, from winter snowshoeing and photography to programs focused on local history, geology, and environmental science. This project carries special meaning for Hughes. Our superintendent, Erin Dalton, who oversaw construction, is the son of Dr. Ed Dalton, a longtime advocate for education and a pillar of the Tooele Education Foundation. Naming the lodge in honor of Ed Dalton reflects his enduring legacy and commitment to enriching educational opportunities in the region. The Dalton Learning Lodge is more than a structure, it’s a symbol of partnership, generosity, and a shared vision for lifelong learning. Hughes is honored to have contributed to a space that will inspire generations to explore, discover, and grow.
