Polk Elementary School’s addition and renovation project brings new life to a beloved 1920s-era campus. As Ogden School District’s longest-operating elementary school, the project carefully balanced preservation with innovation; restructuring the original building and adding a new three-story wing designed for 21st-century learning.

The design honors the school’s historic architecture while introducing vibrant, adaptable academic spaces. Hughes General Contractors worked closely with the district to ensure the new addition complemented the original structure and met evolving educational needs. A key aspect of the project was safeguarding the century-old sequoia trees on site. Careful coordination among trades and regular arborist monitoring ensured these community treasures were protected throughout construction.
