The 66,000-square-foot Blockyard Industrial Complex brings upscale office, showroom, and flexible warehouse space to a rapidly evolving area of South Salt Lake. Designed as a modern reference to the Buehner Brick and Block Plant that once occupied the site, the development preserves the character of an early 20th-century factory while providing adaptable space for the building owner and future tenants.

Architectural tilt-up concrete panels incorporate tumbled thin-brick inlays to recreate the warmth and texture of a historic masonry façade with the durability and efficiency of modern construction. Plate-steel door and window frames, faux rivet details, and a matching entry arch reinforce the industrial identity, while a replicated colored and sandblasted concrete sign from the former factory serves as a lasting tribute to the site’s history.

Construction required careful planning on a constrained zero-lot-line site, with portions of the building positioned as close as 12 inches from neighboring properties and the UTA TRAX corridor. A Geopier ground-improvement system addressed poor soil conditions and supported the concrete structure, while a reduced-joint floor system created a smooth, durable working surface throughout the warehouse areas. The completed complex connects South Salt Lake’s industrial past with the flexible workplace needs of its future.
