Knudsen Park is a thoughtfully designed public space that honors the legacy of the original Knudsen mill and picnic groves. Located in Holladay, Utah, the park blends historical storytelling with modern landscape architecture to create a vibrant community destination. The park features grassy play fields, meadows, a hammock garden, and a playground with fiber-reinforced concrete climbing structures. A water play area demonstrates early pioneer irrigation techniques using concrete and steel troughs, hand pumps, and weirs. Shady trails encircle the park, leading to an outdoor classroom supported by discreet concrete abutments and repurposed tree stumps for seating.

The board-form tilt-up structures replicate the textures of the original wood mill, combining durability with historical reference. Recognized with a Tilt-Up Concrete Association Achievement Award and AGC of Utah’s Landscape/Urban Development Project of the Year, Knudsen Park is a small but powerful example of how concrete can preserve history while serving the present.
